Fairchild Family // SouthEastern Idaho Photographer

The Fairchild family might just be the cutest family, ever! And it might just be that I am a little bias because they are family, but I think that you would agree. I had so much fun during this shoot and I love photographing family.

The "can't miss" Thanksgiving photos list

Creating memorable Thanksgiving pictures can be challenging with everything else that has to be done. But since it is a time when friends and family gather together, it is the perfect opportunity to get some great shots of everyone enjoying the holiday.

To help you capture the memories of your Thanksgiving, I thought I would share a few ideas of what to take pictures of.

• The preparation in the kitchen and all that are helping
• The kids playing together
• Fresh cranberries
• All the fall leaves outside
• Individual place setting
• The whole table set and ready
• Close up of centerpieces
• Everyone seated at the table and enjoying the meal
• The kids table
• The dessert table
• Everyone relaxing and lounging after the meal
• Maybe even a few of those taking a nap after eating dinner

It is a great time to get some typical pictures of everyone but it is important to capture the details. Try getting a few of everyone interacting with one another and having fun. They don't have to be looking at the camera for a great picture. The photos that are filled with emotion are the pictures that you will treasure forever.

What photos will you be taking this Thursday?!

Here are a few pictures I found on Pinterest to inspire you:

today what I am thankful for

If I was to write all of the things I am thankful for, the list would be a mile long.

But today as I sat down to write this, I could only think about how grateful I am for my husband. It might be that our anniversary is on Tuesday.

We have been married for 3 crazy/fun/exciting years. They have been the very best years and no matter how hard times have gotten or will get, I know Tyler will always be right there for love and support.

I'm thankful for

Patrick.

Sometimes he is a little crazy but I couldn't love anyone more! He has absolutely changed my life and has changed my marriage all for the better.
I love reading to him and tucking him into bed every night. I love that he cuddles and gives me wet slobbery kisses. He makes me feel so good when he runs with open arms to give me a hug when I return home.
I love our conversations together, even though I don't understand his babbling.
He is so smart, adventurous and determined. He has a wild amount of energy at night time and loves to play hide and seek.

Even though its hard not to get frustrated at times and it seems like my patience needs to be endless. I need to remember all of the day to day things and the little details.

I am so thankful for my little Patrick and that I get to be his mom.

simple and easy ways to get more pictures of your children

I hope that you all had an incredibly fun Halloween! I sure did!
I loved taking Patrick trick-or-treating and he even scored two full size candy bars.

I thought that I would share a few tips to make taking pictures of your kids a little easier. We all love capturing those special moments, the fun times, and first times. With the holidays right around the corner, we will have lots of great photo opportunities.

I don't know about you, but I always seem to be busy getting ready and run out of time or in such a hurry that I have no time to take a few pictures. I always think that I'll get a few right before or right after but it never happens. So for hallo ween, I knew it would be hectic the day of so I decided to take photos the day before. We were in no rush and I was able to really spend time getting good pictures. It is crazy how much you can do with a little preparation.

You want to capture all of the little things and all the details. Your children don't have to be looking at the camera for a good picture. It is also so important to make things fun. If you are too stressed out because they wont stand still or they wont smile, then you will never get a good photo. After all, you don't want your kids to hate being in front of the camera, you want them to love it! Capturing all the faces that your kids make can be pretty funny and shows off their personality.

I have found that if I let Patrick do what he wants, he is more willing to be happy and smile. When we were taking these photos, all he wanted to do was sit down. I kept asking to stand up, so that I can see his whole outfit. I wanted the perfect picture but Patrick knew best. After I stopped pestering him about standing up, I stepped back and snapped a few of him sitting down. These turned out to be the best ones! He wouldn't stop laughing and smiling.

With carrying a diaper bag and Patrick,  I just don't have enough room to carry my big dslr camera. I only have my phone. But it is not always about getting professional looking photos, it is about saving and capturing memories, right? Here are a few photos from yesterday that we took using my phone.

Someone told me that having a bad photo is better then having no photo. I have come to find that very true. Even though this picture is extremely blurry, I will always remember how much fun it was taking Patrick to his first trunk-or-treat activity!
